About Sharla

Sharla grew up in the town of Lynnfield. When she was younger she attended Lynnfield High School and excelled on the tennis court. She set multiple records that have yet to be broken. Sharla then attended Seton Hall University where she continued her passion for tennis and set records once again. After college, Sharla returned home to work as a Lynnfield Middle School teacher while simultaneously earning her master's degree. She was the coach of the high school boys' tennis team for several years and led the team to two league championships. Soon after, Sharla eagerly entered into her true life's calling; motherhood. Sharla was a beloved, devoted, and proud mother to her five children. She filled her days with multiple activities while providing love, nurture, and fun for her kids. She created a loving home where everyone felt welcomed. All who entered noticed her flair for decorating, especially seasonally. She also had a knack for organization and efficiency stemming from her days as a teacher. Sharla was affectionately known for her daily fast-paced walks through town and her friendly wave to all she passed. If you met Sharla, you were touched by her.

About See The Good

Sharla was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Colorectal Cancer in the spring of 2021. With an army of family and friends beside her, she kept her spirits up with daily walks, lots of laughter and her lifetime motto to always 'see the good' in everyone and everything.

Making a Difference

In the weeks before her mother's passing, Sharla's 15 year-old daughter reached out to her community on the local town Facebook page asking for help. For treatment, Sharla had needed Hepatic Arterial Infusions, and despite living in Boston and being near many wonderful hospitals, the closest hospital for this type of care was in New York. Sharla traveled two times each month for one year to get the care she needed. Wanting no other family to go through the same type of lengthy travel for care, her daughter's ask to her fellow neighbors was to donate enough funds to support a hepatic arterial infusion pump clinical program at Mass General Hospital in Boston for future patients.

Why 'See The Good'

Well before her diagnosis Sharla reminded everyone to see the good in others. Her bright disposition never wavered even in her toughest days. We are in the process of determining how to continue to spread the love, energy and good Sharla did everyday.
