FUND UPDATES

OLIVIA STARTS FUND

Olivia reaches out to her local community via Facebook, sharing the challenges her mom faced in getting treatment. Her mom Sharla, diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Colorectal Cancer in the spring of 2021, traveled two times a month from Boston to New York. Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York is one of 15 hospitals with the Hepatic Arterial Infusions. The fund was set up to help Mass General Hospital doctors to launch the program in Boston and create a named fund in Sharla's name.

Sitting in one of the oldest conference rooms in Mass General Hospital speaking with one of the most beloved, groundbreaking liver surgeons. Accompanied by his colleague, discussing the Liver Pump program at MGH and how your donations are helping this very minute in creating an effective hepatic arterial infusion pump program.  The generosity of Sharla's Donors is truly remarkable and breathtaking. Your donations are assisting Dr. Qadan, and his team to pave the way.  Olivia was honored to hand Dr. Qadan a large check from our donors.

“I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your mission to get HAI pump support services brought to Massachusetts General Hospital. My daughter Meghan and our family has benefitted from this amazing campaign.  Meghan was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer at age 39 on November 19, 2021. After receiving systemic chemo at Dana Farber for 10 months she was referred to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in NY .  On October 11, 2022, she traveled to MSK and had colorectal surgery and the HAI pump was inserted. She remained there for 9 long days. Thank God for Face Time!  In November she had complications and was returned to NY by ambulance.  Recently seeing your post, she reached out to MGH and was put in touch with Dr. Paige Walsh. We met and she has since been transferred to MGH for chemo! Thank you!"
